-
Northern
New Jersey Boy Scouts Council - For the purpose of program
delivery, the Northern New Jersey Council is divided into twelve
districts in three field service areas and a council wide Learning for
Life division. Each district has a volunteer structure and a full-time
professional Scouter who insures that new units are organized and that
existing ones deliver a quality program. The twelve districts are:
Ramapo Mountains, Twin Valleys, Ridgewood/Glen Rock, and Black
Bear(Northern Field), Tantaqua, Southern Valley, and Great Falls
(Central Field) and Jersey City, Hudson Liberty, Robert Treat, Broken
Arrow and Orange Mountains (Southern Field).
-
Ramapo Mountian District --
We are the northern most district of the Northern New Jersey Council,
Cub Scouts of America. We Serve the towns of Allendale, Franklin
Lakes, Ho-Ho-Kus, Mahwah, Midland Park, Oakland, Ramsey, Saddle River,
Upper Saddle River, Waldwick, and Wyckoff. We provide guidance,
training, support and program to forty-two units serving over two
thousand youth in Cub Scouting, Cub Scouting, Exploring and Venturing.
We are located in the northwest corner of Bergen County New Jersey in
the foot hills of the Ramapo Mountains. The county is in the extreme
northeast of the state in close proximity to New York City. Our
location is approximately twenty-five miles northwest of New York
City. In this site we maintain Articles of events that have occurred
in the current scouting year, a calendar of upcoming events, and the
current months round table information.
-
Lenni Lenape - Long
before the Europeans arrived in what is now Central and Eastern
Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Delaware,
well-organized groups of people hunted and cultivated these lands. Known
to us as the Lenni Lenape, they comprised three distinct groups with
several minor differences; the northern group was later known as the
Munsee (Minsi) and in the lower areas they were known as the Unami
(Delaware). In southern New Jersey lived those referred to as the
Unalachtigo who were eventually absorbed into the Delaware. Each group
spoke their own dialect within the Algonquin linguistics group.
-
The MacScouter -- This
site, developed by R.Gary Hendra (CM Pack 92 & CC Pack 92,
Milpitas, California), is one of the most comprehensive scouting
resources on the WWW. It contains valuable information and links to
virtually every aspect of Cub Scouting. Don't miss the
MacScouter Resource
Directory at this site for a complete list of MacScouter resources.
Leaders should check this out.
-
The Virtual
Cub Scout Leaders Handbook - This is a superb site, and it's just
what it says. Here leaders will find clear and well presented
explanations on a wide range of topics pertaining to Cub Scouting. This
site is exceptional in its depth and breadth of information. It is also
one of the best sites in terms of ease of navigation. Leaders should
plan on spending lots of quality time at this site.
- Scout
History and Traditions - An amazingly thorough site. Ever wonder
what happened to the Cub Scout Lion rank? Want to find out about the
roots of scouting in Russia or maybe South Africa? Want to hear some
bugle calls or find out the history of Taps. It's all here, and tons
more.
- US Scouting Service Project -
Created by a project team of volunteers, the purpose of this site is to
gather as much reference material about scouting as possible and post it
for public access. This is a great site!
